Pharmacists and GPs are invited to a deprescribing educational event in Hobart on the evening of Thursday 9 May.

Consultant pharmacist Peter Tenni, GP Amanda Lo and geriatrician David Dunbabin will lead an interactive discussion on deprescribing – the process of withdrawing medicines in an attempt to improve a person’s health.
By the end of this activity, participants will be able to:
- identify patients for whom deprescribing could be considered
- review the medications being taken by identified patients
- select potential drugs to be ceased/modified and prioritise these
- develop strategies to initiate deprescribing of unnecessary or potentially harmful medications
- develop skills and strategies to monitor the withdrawal of deprescribed medications, and support patients.
