Pharmacists and GPs are invited to a deprescribing educational event in Hobart on the evening of Thursday 9 May.

This event is being held at Best Western, Hobart, and available via Zoom webinar.

Consultant pharmacist Peter Tenni, GP Amanda Lo and geriatrician David Dunbabin will lead an interactive discussion on deprescribing – the process of withdrawing medicines in an attempt to improve a person’s health.

By the end of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • identify patients for whom deprescribing could be considered
  • review the medications being taken by identified patients
  • select potential drugs to be ceased/modified and prioritise these
  • develop strategies to initiate deprescribing of unnecessary or potentially harmful medications
  • develop skills and strategies to monitor the withdrawal of deprescribed medications, and support patients.
