Changes to delivery of low intensity mental health and wellbeing services

Posted on August 26, 2022

Remedy Healthcare’s contract with Primary Health Tasmania for the delivery of low intensity mental health and wellbeing services will end once existing clients have completed their support program.

As a result, Remedy has stopped taking new referrals into these telephone and online coaching services (MindStep and Healing Minds).

Despite successful clinical outcomes in the MindStep and Healing Minds programs, the services have had low uptake in Tasmania.

Primary Health Tasmania has decided to explore alternative options for the sustainable delivery of low intensity mental health services moving forward, considering factors including consumer preferences for modality of service delivery.

Eligible Tasmanian adults can still self-refer to group-based support services delivered by Primary Health Tasmania’s other commissioned provider of low intensity mental health services, Mindfulness Programs Australasia. More information is available on Primary Health Tasmania’s Services Portal.

Tasmanians seeking to access mental health services can talk to their GP or call the national Head to Health phone service on 1800 595 212 and be put through to someone in Tasmania to find out about services available to support them.

The Link Youth Health Service also delivers headspace early intervention services for people aged 12 to 25 years. More information here.

TasCOSS’s Find Help Tas website has information about mental health-related helplines, counselling, support groups, grief and loss support, carers support, information and education, and more.

Primary Health Tasmania’s Tas After Hours web page also lists a number of mental health helplines and online resources.
