Suicide has a devastating impact on families, friends and whole communities. Pharmacists, due to their role and their accessibility in the community, have the potential to play a key role in recognising the signs and symptoms of suicide, restricting means and keeping the person safe until support is available. Adapted from Black Dog Institute’s full day training, this course reflects the unique role pharmacists play in the suicide prevention space. The training is interactive and cased based workshop enabling peer discussion alongside the development of practical skills to implement. It aims to increase pharmacists’ skills and confidence in:
• Recognising presentations warranting further exploration for suicidality
• Undertake an assessment of suicidality
• Support the planning of safety plan and referral options
