Anybody with an interest in mental health service delivery in Tasmania

Primary Health Tasmania’s Mental Health Continuum of Care Project aims to improve Tasmanians’ experience of and outcomes from the mental health services we commission.

The project will seek to enhance service integration and coordination, so people experience a more connected journey across mental health services and receive the right care at the right time.

While the Mental Health Continuum of Care Project is currently focused on low intensity services, short-term trauma counselling, short-term psychological interventions, and services for adults with complex and severe mental illness, we are also exploring how the continuum of care model might extend over time to include alcohol and other drug support services, psychosocial support services, and youth enhanced services.

What we have done to date

During April and May we have been engaging with lived experience groups, commissioned providers, service users, and mental health clinicians to better understand the mental health system in Tasmanian.

Your involvement in the community design workshop

In these sessions we will share what we’ve heard so far from all stakeholders and seek feedback on potential elements of a new mental health service model for the mental health services that Primary Health Tasmania funds.

We want to share with you what we’ve heard and consult with you on specific elements of a new service model. We are keen for your involvement and recognise the importance of engaging with a wide range of stakeholders and community groups, ensuring that our approach holds true to the experiences and needs of those impacted by our services.

We are holding three face-to-face workshops in Hobart, Launceston and Devonport, as well as two virtual workshops statewide for those who can’t attend in person. You can attend whichever session works best for you.

  • Virtual statewide workshop Monday 30 June 4:30-6:30pm

The community consultation sessions will be focused on designing elements of the new service model. Specifically, the sessions will explore:

  • what we’ve heard so far about what can be improved in mental health services in Tasmania
  • collaboratively designing elements of a new service model, as well as testing and refining other aspects
  • identifying risks and issues with delivering a new service model.

To help us manage numbers for the event, we ask that you limit attendance from your organisation to a maximum of two representatives. Should you be unable to attend the above sessions, a link to a survey will be available to provide your insights.
