Unfortunately Primary Health Tasmania has decided to postpone the Early Psychosis Youth Service consultation workshops taking place in Hobart, Launceston and Ulverstone next week.
Events such as these can be rich sources of feedback for service design and we did not get the registrations for attendance at this time as we had anticipated. We will endeavour to host these workshops in the future.
Primary Health Tasmania has received funding from the Australian Government to commission an Early Psychosis Youth Service in Tasmania. Stakeholders, community members, and people with lived experience are warmly invited to attend a consultation workshop to provide feedback on some aspects of the proposed service. Funding for the EPYS runs from 2023-25.
What is the service?
The Early Psychosis Youth Service (EPYS) will provide state-wide clinical support for young people aged 12-25 who are experiencing a first episode of psychosis, or are at risk of developing psychosis. Psychosis is an experience where a person has difficulty interpreting the world around them, but with EPYS support and treatment, young people can get back to leading the life they choose.
In line with Australian Government requirements,
- The EPYS will meet fidelity of the Early Psychosis Prevention and Intervention Centre (EPPIC) model as regulated by Orygen and;
- Services will be collocated with a headspace centre.
Primary Health Tasmania has worked with Orygen, headspace National, and the State Government to adapt the service model to the Tasmanian context. Primary Health Tasmania is seeking feedback about some aspects of the proposed EPYS.
Please note:
These consultation workshops are for feedback on the model only. For organisations interested in delivering the EPYS, forthcoming tender information webinars will outline the process to apply.
