Tasmania’s Mental Health Act establishes a s substitute decision making framework for people with mental illness who because of their illness, cannot make their own health decisions.
This session will provide attendees with an understanding of the definition of ‘capacity’ in the Mental Health Act, and the types of restraint used in practices under the Act. This session will also discuss proposed changes to the Mental Health Act and how they relate to primary care. Dr Anthony Cidoni, Acting Chief Psychiatrist from the Tasmanian Department of Health will deliver this session for general practitioners, practice nurses and allied health professionals.
