These events are being organised by the southern General Practice Liaison Officers and supported by Primary Health Tasmania.
Event 1 will focus on:
- Community Rapid Response Service (ComRRS) South, and Hospital in the Home (HITH) services,
- The Royal Hobart Hospital emergency department: your local ED
The speakers for this first event are:
Miena Arnol – nurse unit Manager, Community Rapid Response Service (ComRRS) South, and Hospital in the Home (HITH)
Miena is the nurse unit manager of both the ComRRS and HITH services. Miena is a registered nurse with board nursing experience, both within the acute care and community sector. Miena has completed post-graduate studies in both emergency and gerontological nursing.
Tammy Harvey – nurse practitioner Community Rapid Response Service (ComRRS) South, and Hospital in the Home (HITH)
Tammy is an emergency trained nurse practitioner with previous nursing experience at Royal Hobart Hospital, Royal Perth Hospital, and The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne. She completed her post-graduate diploma in emergency nursing before completing her Master’s and clinical internship at The Alfred Hospital. She moved back to Tasmania, worked in a community clinic and completed a post-graduate degree in Gerontology. Tammy was instrumental in the development of the Norfolk District Hospital sub-acute model of care, and the implementation and design of the Community Rapid Response Service (ComRRS) and Hospital in the Home (HITH) services.
Naomi Bayliss – nurse practitioner, Community Rapid Response Service (ComRRS) South, and Hospital in the Home (HITH)
Naomi is an emergency trained nurse practitioner with previous nursing experience at the Royal Hobart Hospital and Greater Southern Area Health Services. She completed her Master’s while working in the Royal and commenced working as a nurse practitioner. Naomi has transitioned from emergency into Sub-Acute, Community and was instrumental in the roll-out and design of the Community Rapid Response Service (ComRRS) South and Hospital in the Home (HITH) services.
Dr Iestyn Lewis – medical consultant, Hospital in the Home (HITH)
Dr Iestyn Lewis originally trained in the United Kingdom and has gone on to do post-graduate training in New Zealand, Melbourne, and ultimately Hobart. He has been, an emergency physician since 2012 and has completed sub-specialist training in diving and hyperbaric medicine. He has an interest in chronic wound management and has been the medical lead for the wound clinic since 2015. Over the last 12 months, he has been involved in the roll-out of the new and growing Royal Hobart Hospital, Hospital in the Home (HITH) service.
A number of forums are being planned for the 3rd Tuesday of the month. The next forum’s topic will be Mental Health Hospital in the Home and Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services and will occur on Tuesday 20 April 2021, 7.30pm – 8.30pm.
