New Kingston Medicare Urgent Care Clinic now open
Posted on February 23, 2026
The new Kingston Medicare Urgent Care Clinic opened its doors on Monday 23 February, providing bulk-billed access to urgent care during extended hours.

Primary Health Tasmania’s Lucy O’Flaherty and Susan Powell joined Member for Franklin Julie Collins, Kingborough Mayor Paula Wriedt, clinic staff and Ochre Health representatives at the service launch on 20 February
It’s always best to see your regular GP about health matters, but if something urgent comes up and you can’t access your usual care team – Medicare Urgent Care Clinics (UCCs) can help.
The Kingston Medicare UCC is opposite the post office at the Channel Court Shopping Centre (Shop 63, 29 Channel Highway).
It provides bulk-billed medical care – that means there’s no out-of-pocket cost for patients (just bring your Medicare card).
You don’t need an appointment, either – just walk in. It’s open seven days a week, from 8am to 10pm.
If it’s a life-threatening emergency, always call Triple Zero (000) or go to your nearest hospital emergency department.
The Australian Government provided funding to Primary Health Tasmania to oversee establishment and operation of Tasmania’s three newest Medicare UCCs – in Kingston, Burnie and Sorell.
We commissioned Ochre Health to deliver the Kingston clinic.
