The Patient Travel Assistance Scheme (PTAS) framework in Tasmania has been updated to make it easier for patients to receive financial support when they need to travel for essential medical care not available locally.

The revised framework, implemented on 22 March 2023, includes more timely reimbursements, increased upfront payments, clearer eligibility criteria, and improved processes for appeals, complaints, and exceptional requests.
